Göran Söllcher is one of Sweden's most renowned classical guitarists. A graduate of the Malmö University of Music and Performing Arts and the Royal Conservatory of Copenhagen, he won first prize at the 1978 International Guitar Competition in Paris, launching his professional performing career.
Sösschel has toured extensively throughout Europe, the Americas, China, Japan, and Scandinavia. He has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Bern Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the English Chamber Orchestra, and with conductors including Claudio Abbado, Lafayette Frubek de Burges, Alexander Gibson, Sirsten Erling, Waldemar Nilsson, and Esa-Pekka Salonen.

In 1991, Sauscher was invited to perform the Concerto of Aranjuez at a concert commemorating Rodrigo's 90th birthday, and later performed it again in Puerto Rico. He also toured Japan many times—in 1996 he collaborated with Shaham and flautist Shigenori Kudo, and by 2007 he had completed 13 tours in Japan, and was invited to visit again in 2011.

As an exclusive artist for Deutsche Grammophon, Sösschel has released 19 solo recordings, with his recordings of Bach's complete lute works being particularly acclaimed. In 1990, he collaborated with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in the DG guitar and orchestra series, including Rodrigo's *Concerto of Aranjuez* and *Gentleman's Fantasy*, and Vera Robles' *Guitar Concerto*, which have sold over 150,000 copies to date. Subsequently, he recorded the Paganini Duo with violinist Gil Shaham, which reached the top ten on Billboard's best-selling classical albums; his albums of Piazzolla's works and the Beatles' arrangement *Here, There and Everywhere* have also received widespread acclaim. In 2004, he released *Eleven-String Baroque*, and in 2006, he won the Swedish Grammy Award for "Classical Artist of the Year" for his album *Renaissance*.

In 2007, Sösschel collaborated with cellist Wang Jian to record an album, and embarked on a world tour from 2008 to 2009. In recent years, he has frequently appeared at the Verbier Music Festival and international music festivals in Istanbul and Belgrade, continuing his performances in Europe, America, and Asia.
Sösschel is one of the few Swedish musicians with the title of guitar professor and frequently appears on domestic and international radio and television programs. In 2006, he was awarded the Royal Order of Arts and Letters and became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, receiving national recognition for his artistic achievements.
