Overview

The Sound of Gulangyu is a Chinese original musical inspired by the history and cultural heritage of Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Blending memorable songs, dramatic storytelling, and rich visual design, the production celebrates the island's unique fusion of Eastern and Western cultures while telling a moving story of love, music, dreams, and resilience.

The Sound of Gulangyu is an original Chinese musical that pays tribute to the history, architecture, and musical traditions of Gulangyu Island in Xiamen. Known as the "Island of Music," Gulangyu has long been famous for its rich artistic atmosphere, international cultural influences, and exceptional musical heritage.

Set against this unique historical backdrop, the musical follows the lives of people whose destinies are intertwined through music. As different generations experience love, separation, hope, and personal sacrifice, music becomes the emotional thread connecting the past with the present. Combining original songs, expressive choreography, and cinematic staging, the production recreates the elegant streets, colonial architecture, and vibrant cultural life that have made Gulangyu one of China's most beloved cultural landmarks.

The musical celebrates friendship, family, artistic passion, and the enduring power of music while highlighting the island's multicultural identity and historical significance. Through its emotional narrative and visually rich production, The Sound of Gulangyu offers audiences both an entertaining theatrical experience and a tribute to one of China's most iconic cultural destinations
