Mezzo-soprano Anna Starshkevych and pianist Gavin Roberts present Music To The Rescue—a moving recital of British and Ukrainian works woven with personal reflections. Join us for an evening of artistry and hope as we raise funds to deliver vital medical aid to Ukraine.Conceived and led by Ukrainian-British mezzo-soprano Anna Starshkevych, Music To The Rescue unfolds as an evening of musical elegance and heartfelt solidarity. Joined by pianist Gavin Roberts, Anna guides listeners through a rich tapestry of song and solo piano: from the haunting introspection of Britten and the contemporary brilliance of Jonathan Dove to vibrant new works by Kristina Arakelyan and John Whittaker, interwoven with stirring compositions by Ukrainian masters Nyzhankivsky, Filtz and Shamo. Between each piece, Anna shares poignant reflections on Ukraine’s cultural heritage, inviting the audience into the story of a nation persevering with dignity and hope. All proceeds support UAid International’s mission to deliver critical medical supplies to communities in need, and the evening concludes with the poignant short film Magura, a tribute to those missing in conflict. Experience an evening where every note becomes an act of defiance and hope.
