Aix-en-Provence is a city in the south of France, the university center of the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region. The famous post-impressionist painter Paul Cezanne was born here. Both the Cézanne Jas de Bouffan estate and his workshop are still open to the public. Cezanne dedicated a large number of works to his hometown and its surroundings, and one of the artist's favorite landscape motives was the nearby Sainte-Victoire white limestone mountain.
