Young rising mezzo-soprano Anna Werle has graduated from University of Arts of her home town Berlin with distinction. She studied with Robert Gambill and attended Master Classes with Montserrat Caballé, Grace Bumbry, Mya Besselink and Lorenzo Regazzo as well as with the directors Michael Hampe and Frank Hilbrich.
Already during her studies she began an active operatic and concert career. She has been introduced to public by Montserrat Caballé in the concert ‘Voces de Montserrat Caballé’ at Auditorio de Zaragoza. Engagements include Dorabella at Anhaltisches Theater Dessau in 2011 and again as Dorabella at the Young Opera Festival Schloss Weikersheim 2011 as well as singing the Soloist Alto part of J.S. Bach’s Missa si minor under the baton of Maestro Helmuth Rilling on a tour in Italy (Teatro San Carlo Felice Genova, Auditorium Manzoni Bologna, Teatro Comunale Vicenza, Teatro Comunale Siena, Castel S`Elmo Napoli) in 2012.
Anna has won several international competitions especially with her favorite aria from Cenerentola ‘Nacqui all’affanno’. Prizes include 1. Prize and Special Prize Concorso Citta di Alcamo (Sicilia) in 2011, 2. Prize Concorso Bellini (Caltanisseta) and 1. Prize Canto Festival di Amandola 2011. In 2013 she won a Special Prize (concert engagements) at the International Concert Competition of VdKC in Zwickau and is officially recommended concert soloist of this organization. Also in 2013 she won the Critics Award of Concorso Velluti (Venezia). In 2014 she received 2. Prize and Special Prize for the most beautiful mezzo soprano voice at the International Competition of "Accademia Belcanto Graz". In 2015 Anba has been finalist in the "Marie Kraja Festival" in Tirana
In the seasons 2012-15 she has been soloist member of the Landestheatre Detmold where she has performed roles like Rosina (Barbière di Siviglia), Mercédès and Carmen (Carmen), Flora (La Traviata), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Rossweisse (Walküre), La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), La Zelatrice (Suor Angelica), Karolka (Jenufa), Angel 2/Marie (Written on Skin), Emilia (Otello), 2. Dame/ 3. Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Don Ramiro (La fonts giardiniera)
Oratorio performances include Handels’s Messiah, J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio e Missa si minor, Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang, Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Missa C Majore, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Mahler’s Lied von der Erde and Respighi’s Il Tramonto.
Guest engagements in 2014/15 season include La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi) at Komische Oper Berlin, Soloist Alto Part from Bach’s Christmas Oratoio at Gewandhaus Leipzig, Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana) at Stadttheater Klagenfurt (Austria), Der Silbersee (Kurt Weill) at Konzerthaus Berlin under the baton of Iván Fischer and a Gala Concert at the Yuri Bashmet Festival in Sochi (Russia) during the Olympic Games.
In the season 2015/16 Anna returns as to Landestheater Detmold as Don Ramiro. Debuts include Mercédès at Oper Kiel, La Ciesca at Staatstheater Mainz, her first Verdi Requiem at Berliner Dom and Rundfunksendesaal Berlin under the baton of Peter Aderhold, Dorabella at Oper Halle, Waltraute (Die Walküre) at Tiroler Festspiele Erl (Cover) and confers with the Philharmonie Baden-Baden under the baton of Pavel Baleff.
In the season 206/17 Anna will debut at Palazzo comunale Locri as Rosina under the baton of David Crescenzi, as Orphée at Lehniner Sommermusiken, as Angel 2/Marie (Written on Skin) at Teatro comunale Bolzano and as Cherubino at Staatsoperette Dresden.
