Australian soprano Eleanor Lyons is the first prize winner of the 2013 International Obraztsova Singing Competition and has performed in Sydney, Tokyo, New York, Europe and Russia.
This season she made her debut as Mimi in La Boheme at the Hungarian State Opera and in March was soloist in Mahler’s 3rd Symphony with Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
Later this season she will debut Fiordiligi in Cosí fan tutte at the Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg.
Other highlights include singing the alien-robot ‘Finella’ in a new opera George by Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin throughout Germany, Zweite Dame (Die Zauberfloete) for Wexford Festival Opera, a belcanto recital with the St Petersburg Philharmonic and singing Anne Truelove in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest.
Eleanor completed a postgraduate diploma at the Royal Northern College of Music as well as studying at the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where her teachers include Elena Obraztsova, Barry Ryan and Viktoria Dodoka.
